The Grainger Wind Symphony presents its fifth and final concert ‘Season of Celebration’! Featuring ‘The Night Before Christmas’ narrated by Alan Brough, ‘Russian Christmas Music’, ‘A Christmas Festival’, works by Grainger, De Meij and Kazik, and our 2017 Young Player Scholarship winner with guest artists Ochre Trio, Mozart Trio and Quartet Epiphany.

Program Notes

The last concert for the year has be an opportunity to program works that full of traditional melody as well as as other works that challenge our musicians. We hope that you enjoy listening to these quite varied works that has drawn inspiration from Russian, Sweden, and American traditions , their uplifting character and seasonal cheer.

Eviler Elves by James Kazik

The composer has been a staff arranger at the U.S. Army Band “Pershing’s own” since 2001 and staff writer for Hal Leonard since 2008. This work was composed in 2010. Using the creative imagery of mischievous and somewhat sinister elves, James Kazik plays tricks on the ears with this innovative composition.
