Concert 1: Lincolnshire Posy Saturday 7.00pm 30 March 2019
St Peter’s Anglican Church, Box Hill
This concert features the master work Lincolnshire Posy by Percy Grainger, and must of Duke Eillington, a member of Grainger’s inner circle of friends.
Concert 2: Made In Australia Saturday 7.00pm 25 May
St Peter’s Anglican Church, Box Hill
This concert features original works by Australian composers that were submitted, shortlisted, selected for performance, workshopped with composers, and performed. The Grainger Wind Symphony enthusiastically supports emerging Australian composers.
Concert 3: By Invitation with Wesley College Glen Waverley Sunday 3.30pm 23 June
Cato Hall, Wesley College Glen Waverley, Gate 1, 620 High Street Road, Glen Waverley
This concert is shared with the senior concert band of Wesley College Glen Waverley.
Concert 4 Stravinsky Concerto for Piano and Winds Saturday 31 August
St Peter’s Anglican Church Box Hill
This concert features Stravinsky’s Concerto for Piano and Wind with Stuart Andrew as piano soloist. Stravinsky is one of the definitive and influential composers of the twentieth century. Accompanying the Stravinsky is a new work Polysonance 3 world premiere by Peter Chaplin and Persuasion, an alto saxophone solo accompanied by wind band by Sammy Nestico.
Concert 5: By Invitation Sunday 4.00pm 20 October combined with Monash University Wind Symphony
Music Auditorium, Monash University Clayton
Feature works include: Symphony No.1 “Lord of The Rings” by Johan DeMeij, Twist by Jodie Blackshaw and the Trumpet Concerto by Arutunian, soloist Naomi Whimpey.
Concert 6: Fables Saturday 7.00pm 7 December
St Peter’s Anglican Church Box Hill
A celebration concert that includes lighter, entertaining works and chamber items.
Feature works include: A Symphony of Fables by Julie Giroux, Nutcracker Suite by Peter Tchaikovsky.
