The Grainger Wind Symphony presents their first concert of 2025. Entitled The Four Seasons, the major work being performed is Jodie Blackshaw’s Symphony No.1 “Leunig’s Prayer Book”.

The program will also feature several soloists including: Terence Teow performing the virtuosically stunning “Carmen Fantasia Brilliante’ on Flute (Composed by François Born); Steven Coutts, Operatic Tenor Baritone who will sing “Voltre Toast” from Bizet’s Carmen and an aria by Gonoud.
Nicholas Costanzo (Acoustic Guitar) will perform “Kinkachoo I Love You” by Australian composer Philip Houghton. Both Stephen and Nicholas will perform in the 3rd movement of the Blackshaw Symphony.
Shane Walterfang will conduct Catherine Likhuta’s (Australia/Ukraine) “Me Disagrees” and Alison Hocking will guest conduct Ralph Vaughan William’s stirring “Sea Songs”. Music Director and Principal Conductor Roland Yeung will conduct the other items not mentioned already.
The Grainger Wind Symphony joined the Composer consortium raised by the World Association of Symphonic Bands and Ensembles to commission Li Chian’s (China) “Three Stanza of Plum-blossom”. The performance will be the Australian premiere of the work.
Finally, the Grainger Wind Symphony will continue with our mission and ongoing scholarship of championing Australian composer Percy Grainger through the performance of his work.
Concert One is a masterclass in programming contemporary and classic works of the Wind Band genre. An event not to be missed.
