12 April 2020 is the deadline for submitting a score and parts in pdf for performance in 2020 at the concert dedicated to Australian compositions. However, submissions are welcome at anytime.
In regard to the COVID-19 pandemic, we intend to proceed with the same deadline of 12 April 2020 as the processing of the submissions needs to be completed should we want to the opportunity to start rehearsals on the successful works in July for the concert in September.
UPDATE 25 May 2020. Because of the restrictions as a result of COVID-19 pandemic, The Grainger Wind Symphony has suspended large group rehearsals and performances for the health and safety of members and audiences until further notice. The Made In Australia compositions submitted will be held over until a new concert date can be set. We thank composers for their submissions, which we note are varied and of a high standard. No decision on submission will be made until then. Composers will be contacted before in case they may want to revise their original submission. We are disappointed but hope [we] can resume supporting Australian composers soon. Please contact Roland if there are any questions.
The Grainger Wind Symphony is calling for Australian composers to submit an original composition for the Grainger Wind Symphony to perform. The Grainger Wind Symphony has provided this special opportunity for a number of years.
The composer gains feedback from the conductor and players based on the printed score and parts, and a chance to review audio recordings of rehearsals to better understand the process in preparing performances. Composers are invited to come to rehearsals or make contact via apps such as FaceTime, participate in the Pre-Concert Talk immediately prior to the concert and maybe introduce their work in the concert. At the end of the project, composers will receive a quality audio recording of their work.
